Task Force

The Middle School Task Force is an action committee of HIP (Hesby Involved Parents). Its goal is to meet the needs of the Middle School, and this is done through the following three sub-committees:

8th Grade Activities

8th GRADE ONLY!

Pin and Ribbon Ceremony

All students on track for graduation participate in a special parent attended pin and ribbon ceremony to motivate students to continue their academic success. Rewards escalate as the year progresses to encourage children to meet the culmination requirements.

P.E. Clothing

P.E. uniforms are available and may be purchased in the main office. Hesby Husky P.E. clothes consist of a light gray T-shirt with the school mascot on the front and royal blue shorts. Shorts are available in 7" and 5" lengths. The cost of one shirt and one pair of shorts is $20.00.

Field Trips

5th Grade
Astrocamp

Generally in April or May each year

6th Grade
W.O.L.F. Camp

Generally in April or May each year

Houses

Students in grades 6-8 are grouped together to form Houses. The purpose of the houses is to encourage teamwork, inter-grade level collaboration, support academic achievement and to have fun. This program allows all Middle School students to get to know each other and enables Hesby Oaks to be a true community.

Student Council

Middle School based council that promotes activities for the student body. They plan and organize Middle School activities and spirit days. They organize charitable campaigns to help those in need, such as book drives, SOVA food drives, collection of socks and jackets for the needy.

Student Life

Green Belt Lunches

Periodically Middle School students can sit in a special grassy area to enjoy lunch (and listen to music).

Library

The library is open during school hours and also for homework club.

If you have a child who’s interested in the political process and wants to learn more about international relations, diplomacy, and critical thinking, our MUN program is an ideal extracurricular activity for them.

Students, called “ambassadors”, participate in the program with their peers. Student delegates receive an up-close and personal understanding of how our government works by being empowered to:

  • Give public speeches
  • Debate international issues
  • Participate in committees
  • Attend statewide social events and dances

The four-month program culminates in May when delegates from around the state meet to establish their own student-run United Nations.

Not only are these great programs to help kids develop friendships, leadership and critical thinking, but also they learn that that their voice is powerful and, together, they can make a difference.

Middle school kids will prepare Tuesdays after school to participate in this event.    There is a training event trip to Camp Roberts in Paso Robles, CA in March 15-17, 2017 and then the main event is April 25-28, 2016 in Irvine, CA.  Kids must stay at hotel during event.
This is an amazing event and opportunity for your kids!!!!

One of the biggest questions for this program is cost.  The program is $850 payable to the YMCA (not HIP or Hesby).  This will be done with your MUN paperwork in 2 payments.  Financial aid is available thorugh the YMCA and the information is included in the links below.
