In 2006, Hesby was awarded the Arts Program by LAUSD which provides $20,000 per year for 5 years for materials and resources in order to deliver a standards based arts program to students in grades K-5. In addition to the materials, the award provides 12 weeks of an art teacher, 12 weeks of a dance teacher and 12 weeks of a theater arts teacher. This outstanding program is provided 2 days aweek.
